Is agave inulin good for you?

Inulin, regardless of the source, is a soluble fiber.  Soluble fibers are not metabolized by the human body, but do supply food to bacteria found in the human digestive tract.  Inulin has been shown in numerous studies to promote the growth of beneficial microorganisms, allowing them to outcompete detrimental organisms such as E. Coli.  Benefits of this change in digestive microflora include increased calcium uptake, improved immune system, decreased colon cancer risk, and improvements in general digestive help, including Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
