The Dendê Family Agriculture Project, linked to our palm oil production partner, was developed to encourage sustainable family farming, reduce environmental damage, and curb rural migration.
Thanks to this project, environmental education among family farmers is a major project outcome. Farmers used to live off the non-sustainable extraction of timber and other native resources, as well as subsistence crops.
Today, small farmers are developing decent incomes through palm oil farming, saving land previously cleared by fire and deforestation and reducing land degradation caused by subsistence crop farming. This win-win situation assures a consistent supply of raw material for the industry, sustainable regional development, and positive economic results for farming families.
