What are the typical cocoa tree varieties and where does Ciranda find the cocoa used in its cocoa products?

Ciranda’s cocoa and chocolate products are made from cocoa originating in South and Central America. The main cocoa tree varieties for our Silver products (grown and processed in Peru or Ecuador) are Criollo, Trinitario, and the Ecuadorian-favored Nacional or CN 51. Our Gold cocoa powders, mostly made from Dominican Republic beans processed in Europe or the U.S., usually come from Criollo-type trees. All of those tree varieties have a medium cocoa flavor with strong fruity overtones.
