Green Banana Flour

We're expanding our gluten-free flour offerings with the addition of organic green banana flour. Organic green banana flour is a beige colored, high performing gluten-free flour that adds carbohydrates, fiber and potassium to baked goods and sweet or savory snacks.

Bananas naturally contain starches which convert to sugars during ripening. Our organic green banana flour is produced from green, unripe bananas that are dried and gently milled, creating a functional gluten-free flour with a high percentage of starch.

Organic green banana flour has a slightly sweet, earthy flavor that complements a variety of bakery and snack applications. Try it in gluten-free waffle, pancake and muffin mixes, or in crackers, biscuits and cereals.

Concerned about food waste? Bananas are at the top of the list for food waste. Grocery markets demand fruit of a certain size and shape, and consumers desire fruit at the peak of ripeness. Green banana flour makes use of cosmetically blemished and misshapen fruits that would not normally make it to market, allowing farmers to receive compensation for their entire crop.

Ciranda offers green banana and whole green banana flour. Our whole green banana flour is milled with the peel still intact for an extra boost of fiber. It has a darker color and more pronounced flavor.
