Ciranda's Palmfruit oils are produced from the fruit
clusters of organically managed palm oil trees. The fruit is processed
using only steam and a mechanical press; no chemical
solvents are used in any stage of production. At this point, the Extra
Virgin Palm Oil retains the natural reddish-orange color and the natural
odor of the oil. The oil is refined and can be sent for bleaching and
deodorizing to yield Palm Oil RBD or fractionated with high-tech equipment
using temperature induced crystallization and separation to obtain solid
(stearin), liquid (olein), and intermediate (shortening) fractions with
various melting characteristics. The shortening is made from a blend of the fractions.
The low levels of linolenic and linoleic acid and high levels of antioxidants,
in the
form of tocopherols and tocotrienols, result in palm oil products' abilities
to resist
oxidation and rancidity, giving extended shelf life to products produced
with palm
products.
retains
the natural color and odor of the fruit. This product is popular as a
frying agent for the added flavor it brings to foods and in the body care
and cosmetic industry.
is used as a
frying oil and in other baking and cooking
applications. Its neutral flavor, color and aroma allow ingredients to
shine through. It is also used in margarines, ice creams, soaps and cosmetics.
is used as frying
oil for such items as corn and potato chips, snack foods and instant noodles.
As a deep-frying medium, Palmfruit Olein can be re-used more often
than other oils, due to its high temperature stability. Used in other
food applications such as margarines , shortenings , ice cream, condensed
milk, soaps etc.
imparts light flaky texture to a wide variety of baked goods such as crackers,
cookies, biscuits, pie and tart shells, breads and more. Ideal for use
as a high quality creaming agent for spreads such as sandwich cookie fillings.
The fact that Palmfruit shortening is solid at room temperature,
has a neutral taste, and is produced without hydrogenation and trans-fatty
acids, has made organic Palmfruit shortening a very useful ingredient
in organic food processing.
is a higher melting
point palm fraction used in coatings in the confectionery and margarine
industry. Palm stearin is also used to prevent
nut butters from separating and in production of soap and cosmetics.
Physically and chemically different from the highly saturated palm kernel
oil,
Palmfruit products contain a balance of polyunsaturated, monounsaturated
and saturated fatty acids and essential substances such as linoleic acid,
tocopherols and tocotrienols, which act as natural anti-oxidants against
damaging free-radicals. For more information see our 'Nutritional and
Health Benefits of Palmfruit Products' information sheet.

* Vitamin E is a generic name referring to alpha tocopherol
|
"Vitamin E is best thought of as a vitamin complex, consisting of
two therapeutic groups of compounds with vitamin E activity -- tocopherols
and tocotrienols. Each group comprises four different isomers, alpha,
beta, gamma and delta, which all have different biological activities
and potential therapeutic benefits. Tocopherols are present in most vegetable
oils and are more common in the diet than tocotrienols, which are found
at relatively high concentrations in oil extracted from the fruit of the
palm tree. Tocotrienols are shown to be more potent, therapeutically,
than tocopherols. For example, the antioxidant capabilities of tocotrienols
are 40-50 times that of tocopherols.2 In addition, other isomers are more
potent than alpha tocopherol. Both gamma tocopherol and alpha tocotrienol
may be more potent antioxidants than alpha tocopherols."

of Its Therapeutic Potential. Clin Biochem 32(5):309-319.
Ciranda is now offering the food and body care industry Palmfruit
organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil produced in the Philippines. This project
was established to assist small farmers in the production of organic coconuts.
Today 400 producers in the Philippines are enjoying improved living conditions
and contributing to a healthier environment. Certified Organic by QAI,
Kosher and Non-GMO.
Palmfruit organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is produced in
a particularly gentle manner to ensure that all natural properties are
retained as in the original form of the freshly harvested coconut fruit.
In this way the lauric acids and vitamin E are preserved. Using cold press
processing, all the vital active substances are retained, as well as the
original flavors and aroma of the fresh coconut.
Immediately after harvest the white meat of the organic coconuts are separated
from the nut, shredded, dried and immediately pressed through an expeller
press. Without adding any preservatives, the Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
is filtered and packed in 55-gallon drums.
This gentle process retains all the original and highly present natural
preservatives, so that the Virgin Coconut Oil has a much longer shelf
life than a refined coconut oil. In addition, it will withstand higher
temperatures during cooking, than the refined version.
Extra Virgin Coconut Oil has a high concentration of short and medium
chain fatty acids (66-77%). it is metabolized quickly in the body.

USAGE OF ORGANIC PALM FRUIT STEARIN IN NUT BUTTERS TO AVOID OIL
SEPARATION
- IMPROVE SHELF APPEARANCE
of Natural and Organic Nut Butters by eliminating the layer of oil floating
at the top of the jar!
- REDUCE CONSUMER RESISTANCE
by avoiding that messy first step before consumption: stirring the separated
oil back in!
Nut butters have been a staple in the natural products industry since
its inception and so has the natural oil separation that is inherent to
nut butters. With the increased sophistication of the organic foods consumers
and the desire to attract a broader consumer base, improving the appearance
and convenience of products in this category is important.
Now, manufacturers have the option of using Ciranda's Organic Palm Fruit
Stearin to make the difference.
Recommended application rate is 4%- 8% depending on the nut, oil content
and processing conditions. We recommend that manufacturers conduct their
own tests to determine the proper application rate.
Due to the 124ºF (52º C) melting point of Organic Palm Fruit
Stearin, manufacturers should exercise care in maintaining adequate temperature
throughout the melting and blending process.
Enjoy your New Nut Butter!
