Ciranda Recognized for Sustainability by IBIE’s B.E.S.T. in Baking Program

CIRANDA, INC., a leading supplier of certified organic, non-GMO and fair trade ingredients, will be recognized at the upcoming International Baking Industry Exposition (IBIE) for their sustainability efforts through the B.E.S.T. (Becoming Environmentally Sustainable Together) in Baking program.

The B.E.S.T. in Baking program was introduced in 2010 and recognizes exhibitors who foster energy and water conservation, decrease landfill waste and promote overall healthy living and reduction in environmental impact. Exhibitors in the categories of equipment, ingredients, packaging, logistics, wholesale bakery and retail bakery were selected by a panel of judges with expertise in sustainability and baking best practices, and evaluated for environmental impact, innovation, feasibility, ROI and practical application to the baking industry.

Ciranda presented information on its sustainability efforts which include the use of recycled and reusable packaging, energy efficient fixtures, rooftop solar panels, two-flush toilets, and landscaped rainwater catchment gardens. The company has achieved carbon neutrality through various carbon offset programs for all energy consumption at their headquarters, as well as for employee commuting and business travel. Annually they offer free education for the community on topics including organic agriculture systems, fair trade farming practices, and living a sustainable and eco-conscious lifestyle.

Ciranda supplies a broad portfolio of organic and non-GMO ingredients to commercial bakers and manufacturers including gluten-free flours and starches; oils and shortening; sweeteners; cocoa and chocolates; coconut; rolled oats; yeast and baking powder. Products will be showcased at the company’s booth # 678 at IBIE in Las Vegas, Nevada, on October 8-11, 2016.
